  Definitely not normal, mine actually seems to run better between
  about 2000 and 3000, with top speeds in excess of "arrest me"
  still available at well over 7000 on a freeway.

  May be productive to figure out what kind of chemical smelling
  it is...knock wood someone will recognize it.

  I'd replace the intake temp sensor and try it, but if I had to
  take a WAG, the MAP sensor would be high on the list of suspects.
  Except that I have no clue what is causing the chemical smell.
