remote starter problem

I have a 1990 Digifant 8V GTi.

I bought this used and it has a "Pro Start II" remote starter. I
cannot get it to work.  Anyone have any experience with this - or is
there a shut down procedure I must go through before it will work for
start uop.

I live in eastern Canada.
