Re: Need recommendation on hi-torque impact wrenches

How much do you want to spend? Any no name brand impact made in China,
Taiwan etc., might look nice but do not deliver the power you are looking
for or last very long in industrial applications. For professional use my
favorite is Ingersol Rand and second choice is Chicago Pneumatic or CP.
Ingersol Rand makes a fantastic top of the line 3/4 impact with lots of
power and is light weight since it has a lot of plastic components to cut
the weight down. I don't know what the model number is but they are slate
gray in color and have a red dial and two red plastic push buttons on the
end for direction and power setting. Its an expensive impact and lasted
about 2 years in daily shop use. The cost of rebuilding it was 2/3 the cost
of a new one so we just purchased another new Ingersol Rand. The down side
of the model with the plastic parts is that the vibration of impacting does
the plastic parts in. If the push buttons and handle/valve assembly were
metal we probably could have had at least another year of service out of it.
