I have a '92 Lumina with 3.1L engine. One of the power steering hoses has a leak right where it bends before it goes behind the engine. Its a small leak, but enough to make it unusable (and make quite a mess of the driveway in the process). Because of the difficulty in changing this hose on this car (which evidently requires dropping the subframe, something I don't really want to get into unless I don't have any other option), I'm considering patching the hose. I realize that patching a high pressure hose is generally not going to be successful, but I figure I can give it a try before I try a more difficult and time consuming repair. I was thinking I could get a piece of hose about 4 inches long with an ID equal to the OD of the hydralic hose, and a number of hose clamps. Wash the oil off the hose, and coat it with adhesive, then slide the new hose over the top and put several hose clamps on it. Shouldn't take more than half an hour to complete. I know its totally ghetto, and you professional types will just roll your eyes at the idea, but will it fix this leak for a few thousand more miles? Thanks DK
