I just checked the database at the Gates web site. An excellent reference
by a timing belt manufacturer. Your engine is an interference type which
almost guaranties major engine damage from resulting piston and valve
contact. Gates recommends timing belt replacement at 60,000 miles unless
specified otherwise by the manufacturer. In this case 90,000 miles is
Audi's specified interval. If you have a non interference engine adhering
to strict timing belt replacement schedules is not as critical since no
major engine damage will occur if the belt fails.
