It's not the power output rating that counts; it's the voltage gain (which you may or may not know) and the sensitivity of the speakers. The speaker sensitivity and impedance, along with the voltage required at the input of the amplifier to produce 100W into that impedance, will allow you to determine whether the noise you hear is reasonable, given the laws of physics.
