WVBR'S BOUND FOR GLORY, 37th YEAR, FALL 2003

Fans of PHC will also enjoy this show:

WVBR'S BOUND FOR GLORY, 37th YEAR, FALL 2003

Phil Shapiro, host of WVBR's Bound for Glory since its inception in
1967, announces the Fall schedule, the start of the 37th year of this
Central New York musical tradition.

WVBR's Bound for Glory, North America's longest running live folk
concert broadcast, broadcasts live from the Cafe at Anabel Taylor
Hall at Cornell on Sunday nights. Bound for Glory brings central New
York another series of free folk concerts, on WVBR-FM, 93.5 and
105.5. We promise some excellent acoustic music, presented by
long-time host Phil Shapiro.

The show runs Sunday nights from 8 to 11, with live sets at 8:30,
9:30, and 10:30. All three sets are different. Come to as many sets
as you wish. Admission in the live audience at the Cafe at Anabel
Taylor Hall is free and is open to everyone in the area. Kids are
always welcome. Refreshments are available. For further
information, call Phil Shapiro at 607-844-4535, or e-mail at

Find out about upcoming Bound for Glory shows, and about how you can
help, through the Friends of Bound for Glory, by looking up
http://wvbr.com on the Web. Everyone can listen to Bound for Glory
on line. The website tells you how.

SEPT.14 DAN BERGGREN. A return visit from an old friend. Dan
Berggren grew up in the Adirondacks. His songs, old and new, reflect
the harsh beauty of the high hills and mountains, and the wonderful
characters who lived there, in old times and not so old. Dan's songs
have wonderful choruses and he remains as charming and delightful as
ever.

SEPT.21 EVE GOLDBERG. It'll be Eve Goldberg's second visit to Bound
for Glory. She comes to us from Toronto, with a songbag borrowed
from the finest songwriters, plus a few songs of her own. Sometimes
she sounds like a mountain singer, sometimes like an early jazz
chanteuse. She's always fascinating and surprising.

SEPT.28 SCOTT ALARIK. It's probably been fifteen years since the
last time Scott Alarik appeared on Bound for Glory. He's from
Minnesota, via Boston, and his old time stories are legendary. He's
a fine writer, and also a singer of traditional ballads. After years
as a music critic, he's back on the road part time, and he's made a
bee line for Bound for Glory.

OCT.5 MARK RUST. Yes, we've been remiss. It's been far too long
since the last Mark Rust Bound for Glory. Let's all welcome this
former Ithacan, with his delightful stories and songs about our town,
his family, and the many good people that have crossed his path.
This is the kind of magic that keeps Bound for Glory going year after
year.

On OCTOBER 12,Bound for Glory will be Albums from the Studios, as
Cornell takes Fall Break, and the Cafe at Anabel Taylor is closed.
Give Phil a call at 607-273-2121. There will be seven more live
shows in the late Fall, starting OCTOBER 19. The tentative schedule
looks excellent. PRISCILLA HERDMAN, DAVID OLNEY, DANA ROBINSON, and
more. Details to follow.
