If he suddenly became a party animal, that would be dark... for him. Since this is a drama, it would be peculiar if he returned unchanged. People will certainly be looking at him differently. Side question: I didn't watch the opening five or so episodes. One thing I've noticed is the absence of references to drugs. In the first season Helen went to a folk concert at the bookstore and a joint was passed around. As far as I know, that's been it.
