Yes, he did.  C.J., you see, is In The Navy (you can join your fellow man!) . 
He ran off to the armed services when Tina alienated both the kids.  Flash
called him and we even got a voice on the other end, but she hung up without
saying anything.  We've since heard it's even harder to reach C.J. because he's
on an aircraft carrier in the Indian Ocean.  Well, nonsense, I figured; after
Asa finds out about the Tina mess he'd hunt the boy down.  And then Flash said
maybe a month or two ago that Asa had tried, but the Navy "would not budge." 
For Asa Buchanan.  To talk to his great-grandchild.  I somehow doubt that.

Joey established in February that Tina and the kids had gone 'underground'
shortly after leaving for Baltimore, cutting all ties to the Lords/Bukes and
leaving Cord, Viki, and Asa all very upset.  Sarah's arrival was the first
anyone had heard from the Roberts family proper (sans Cord) in ages.
Presumably Tina did something characteristically stupid.  We have still not
gotten the full story.  If they ever allow Tina back, she has some serious
'splainin to do.

As for the Cain reunion thing, I always thought it was extremely bizarre as
well.  I assumed Malone was just stroking his ego; Cain, after all, is one of
his.  Writer bias and all.

FWIW, I believe that Flash was originally intended to be Sarah after all.  Then
she got focus-grouped with Bruce Hall and things got horribly, incestuously
muddled.
