WOTP: Help me break a stereotype

Okay, guys, this might become a regular series of posts for me, who
knows. Anyway, here's how it goes, I pose a question with a
stereotypical bent about a race/gender or some other thing, and I
invite anyone to challenge me with their TRUE LIFE examples that
contradict the stereotype so I can go, "Oh, okay..." and become more
enlightened.

In short, I honestly hope to be proven wrong by some of the more
worldly people here...

Okay here... first question...

Why do so many Indians (Pakistanis, that is, not Native Americans),
run shitty hotels?

I've worked for three different Pakistani families and all three of
them either through greed, lack of knowledge, uncaringness or just
general stupidity all ran shit hotels. Now, by shit hotel I don't
mean "no frills". There's a BIG difference between a small, "basic"
hotel and a shitty one. You can be a hotel with rooms that have only
"four walls and a bed" and still be decent.

What's really sad is the people I've worked for seemed either unaware
or just really didn't give a damn that they ran a crappy hotel. And
from the fact that people (sadly) kept coming, leaves me to think that
in many areas no matter how bad you run a hotel, enough people will
still stop by to keep you in business.

Now, my two years plus experience in the business of hotels run by
Indians may have left me a bit bitter and perhaps even narrow minded
towards our friends from out east. I would LOVE to hear someone
honestly be able to tell me, "Hey, man, you're wrong, *I* stayed
at/worked for a hotel run by Pakastanis and it was a good place." and
then I'd say, "Well, maybe it's not all of them after all." and be a
step further towards my path of enlightenment.

(waits for the replies)
