MONROE -- It is December 1944 in a prisoner of war camp for American
airmen near the Danube in Germany. No one has ever escaped from Stalag
17.
The Monroe Theatre Guild brings the setting and story of "Stalag 17"
to the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center Thursday, Nov. 20
through Saturday, Nov. 22.
The play was written by Donald Bevan and Edmund Trzcinski -- both
former prisoners of war in Germany, so the story rings authentic. The
play originally opened on Broadway in 1951 and ran for 472
performances. But the story is perhaps best known for the 1953 movie
classic dir...
