Could someone please tell me where and when the Jerome Lawrence play 'Aunty Mame' was first performed?
From www.ibdb.com, first _Broadway_ performance of Auntie Mame (note spelling) was Oct 31, 1956 at the Broadhurst Theatre.
Playwriting credit was shared with Mr. Lawrence by Robert E. Lee (a long-time collaboration).
A little quick googling reveals that one of the pre-Broadway tryout stops was the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia, presumably within weeks of the Broadway opening.
If you need more specifics than that, I'll bet a good biography of star Rosalind Russell would include a section detailing the progress of one of her major starring roles.
