Ned Beatty, 66, expressed his frustration at having to work with Hollywood stars rather than less famous, but more skilled stage actors. Beatty said of Ashley Judd: "She is a sweetie, and yet she doesn't have a whole lot of tools." Of Jason Patric, he said, "He's gotten better all the time." Beatty was also wistful about the Brick he shared the stage with in London, Brendan Fraser: "I lucked out . . . He's great at stagecraft." Beatty was hardly alone in Patric-bashing. New York magazine's John Simon called his performance "a Marlon Brando impersonation such as even second-rate stand-up comics have ceased to perpetuate." ------------------------------------- I missed that review. What did he say about Judd? http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com
