ABSOLUTELY. Also Christian fanatics and Hindu fanatics and any other kind you can think of. They are all functionally crazy, and very, very dangerous to the continuation of life on this planet. > >see anybody around here making excuses for them > > Well, as a matter of fact, both you and Suzy seem to be doing so. Hardly, in my case. See above. I don't know what the muslims would do if they were in control of Israel, though I know what some of them say they would do (and also what many others, who are just exhausted by the violence from both sides, say, which is quite different); I *do* know what the Israeli administration and the settlers *are* doing, and it is just plain unethical and piratical, and counter to everything I was taught about fairness and ethics by my Jewish family. I do not believe in the doctrine of the pre-emptive strike, which seems to be the entire motivation behind Sharon's policies these days. The anti-Zionist Jews who said that the creation of a Jewish nation-State would be the ruin of Jewish ethical standards (which would be replaced by perfectly ordinary and more or less ruthless "natiional" interests) were, in my opinion, dead solid right. Which does not excuse Arab atrocities, in my view. I hold with the moderates who subscribe to the unofficial peace treaty just signed by persons with no power to implement it, but power to express the will of sane people on both sides; and bravo to them.
