The purity of it would have allowed himself to rebuild a pure body. I'd also have to agree with an earlier post that this would have been one of the events foretelling the Dragon's rebirth. Additionally, it would serve as plot device to prove the saidin could be cleansed. No doubt it's where Rand got the idea. Chris
