I'd say the opposite about Trinity's death and Neo's subsequent 
decision.  His choosing to sacrifice himself after she dies is a pretty 
easy decision, since the thing he cared most about was lost to him 
anyway.  If she was still alive and well when he was forced to make his 
decision, that's a much more difficult choice, and something I'd 
probably have preferred to watch rather than the obvious foregone 
conclusion.
