Jeremiah "cancelled in mid-shoot"??

An online column of news and rumors about comic-book related events, "Lying in
the Gutters" by Rich Johnston, mentioned in its latest installment that,
allegedly, JEREMIAH -- the Showtime series created by J. Michael Straczynski
about the survivors of a worldwide plague-- was "cancelled in mid-shoot",
causing star Luke Perry to react with an obscenity when a reporter asked him
for a comment.

The Johnston column isn't the most unimpeachable source of info-- Johnston
himself acknowledges that he reports rumors which vary in reliability-- and I
haven't heard of this anywhere else. Can anyone point to a more reliable
source either confirming or denying that JEREMIAH is cancelled?

I wouldn't be terribly surprised to learn that Showtime had chosen not to pick
up the series for another season (they don't seem to be in any hurry to show
the episodes they've already got) and in fact, I don't greatly care if it's
renewed considering that JMS has already announced that he won't be staying
with the show if it returns. I am curious however about the allegation that
the show was actually cancelled in the middle of shooting an episode.
