It takes all sort I suppose. I thought the ambivalence of Vic's
position, and the reaction of the others such as the Captain's "He's
scum, but hell, if I'm after a paedophile, at least he's our scum"
reactive ambivalence was really what made this a fantastically different
kind of cop show. I still think it's the freshest show on TV at the
moment.

As for Vic being a criminal: you don't have to approve of criminality to
enjoy the programme.
