     First one.   Because, despite ripping off old SF movies like 'IT!
The Terror From Beyond Space', it still had the economy of premise and
the virtue of the maiden voyage behind it. 

     Yeah, number two is the fanboy favorite, but is pretty thin, has
some achingly bad points, and only works by placing contrived
restrictions into the plot to limit the abilities of the humans.

     I actually enjoyed the third one somewhat.  Since I didn't care
about II, I didn't care that the characters from that film were
killed--the major complaint that most people seem to have with it.

I survived four by riffing it (MST3K style) in the theater.  Nobody
seemed to mind at that point.  We were all laughing.  It stunk on ice.
