I saw them in at least 3 spots -- perhaps 4 -- on "Master and Commander". They are "new and improved" copy codes. The sad part is otherwise the technical presentation of the film was very good. Great digital sound. not a scratch on the print, and only 2 very minor lab flaws in the entire print. The film even started in focus without me having to go out to complain, which was a first for this theatre. So periodically through the entire film the presentation has to be marred by bright red dots, conspicuously placed somewhere near the center of the screen, usually on a bright light blue peice of sky where they couldn't be missed. Lemme make sure I understand this correctly: The studios are deliberately defacing their prints and annoying their audience so that they can catch some guy who is too stupid to use a splicer to take out the 2 or 3 frames in which the code appears before he lets some bootlegger make a copy. And the MPAA wonders why they can't catch these guys? Rich
