masking background noise?

I shot two actors, with a double system. Lots of annoying
background noise, -jets landing. I can reduce some of it with
volume envelopes and software that does noise reduction.
I was wondering if it would help to add a bit of background
music to help even out the overall aduio mix. Any ideas?  -doug
