First Fernando, thank you for your fervent position on the value of MS recording. I appreciate everybodies input. I understand the advantage of the CCMs. They just are not available for me to rent in my area. If i rent from outside my area i have to pay multiple day rates to handle the shipping time. That is not an option for my budget. My closest option is to use collette cables and that concerns me for a few reasons. Handling noise with collettes can be a problem. Cold Philadelphia winter can make collettes particularly brittle and hard to deal with. > It is not a complicated rig at all. Maybe one if i get the oportunity. > I find two mic recordings always very pleasant and "natural" sounding. > And perfect for such a situation (XY or MS, or even AB or ORTF for > other scenario) > Schoeps MS with 40 or 41 and an 8 can be great too. I understand, unfortunately i do not trust post production. This particular group in the past has ignored all of my logs and hours and hours of stereo FX and BG recordings that were painstakingly recorded and never made the final film. I just don't trust them not to screw it up. I might do MS discretely and decode it myself in a studio environment. Mono compatability is also a major concern. > The clip for MS on a Rycote can be, of course, be used without the > problem I mentioned of the XY special accesory.
