Heres a more interesting question: Why do people hate Alien3 just because
a)it threw out most of characters from the first 2 movies, and b)its
depressing as hell? Since when do those two characteristics automatically
translate into a bad movie?

Granted, Alien3 is not a masterpiece, however I rank it much closer to 1 & 2
than to 4, and overall I'd say I like it quite a lot.
