: What do those dots *do*, anyway? What's the point of them? I : noticed them in "Kill Bill" since I'd read about them in this newsgroup, : but I still don't know why they're even there. I think they will allow studios to examine pirated versions of their movies to determine in which region or subset of theatres the pirate video was filmed. ie; there are variations in the red dots on different prints of a movie, which allow the studios to somehow narrow down the theatres in which piracy takes place by enforcing policy or refusing to distribute at locations found to have piracy going on.
