The Twelve Step Bad-Art Recovery Program: For People Who Continue To Support Bad Art =========== (Feel free to edit, copy, and/or print on a big-ass poster and mail to the appropriate authorites.) STEP 1: Admit that you were powerless over the artspeak thrown to you, and that your art needs were unmanageable, unknown, or simply trampled over. STEP 2: Believe that being exposed to artwork greater than that exhibited through K-Mart or Liquidation Art conventions could restore you to sanity. STEP 3: Make a decision to turn your art needs and wants over to the evidence of observable aesthetics and design principles. STEP 4: Make a searching and fearless inventory of bad art made in the past. STEP 5: Admit to the person who sold or showed you bad-art (or encouraged you to create bad-art), to yourself, and another human being the exact nature of your wrongs. STEP 6: Admit that you're entirely ready to remove all artwork created for and from artspeak characteristics! STEP 7: Proudly refuse to patronize bad-art organizations and galleries. STEP 8: Make a list of persons you have spoken artspeak to, in order to validate your bad-art, and become willing to make amends to them all. STEP 9: Make direct amends to such people except when to do so would cause them purchase or create bad-art (themselves) just to piss you off. STEP 10: Continue to take inventory of bad-art you own or create, and where you wrongly did so, promptly admit to it. STEP 11: TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN AESTHETICS AND DESIGN as if *you* were an artist and have the balls to demand it in the artwork that you are asked to buy or create. STEP 12: Become enlightened as the result of this step. Carry this message to those that still suffer from Bad-Art and practice these principles in all your art affairs. =========== Literally, Flying Naked People
