Re: Snare drum weight?

I enjoy the current snare drum sound.  I agree, they USED to be cranked way up.
 But with the introduction of the Remo White Max/Black Max and the Evans Gold
Batter heads, many instructors have been detuning the snares, as compared to
recent past years.  I don't think the snare sounds will ever go back to the old
sling drums.  It is just the natural progression of the instrument and it's
sound properties.
