Looking For Advice...

I have just taken a job at a small high school that has competed in TOB the
last couple of years.  They haven't done too well due to conditions beyond
the students' control.  Now the program has started the turnaround last year
going from 5 student to 30.  I am now here trying to build the program
further.  My percussion is very weak and seems to want to goof off more than
try to become better.  The band is 8th grade through 12th grade.  I am
looking for any advice to turn the section around into a good group.
