Congratulations to all who marched in drum corps this summer! I hope everyone had a great time...good luck to all who are in marching band this fall, and to all who will be marching indoor color guard/percussion this winter. If anyone is interested in marching drum corps in 2004, and if you are in the NY/NJ/PA region, PHOENIX Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI Division III--Brick, NJ) has spots opened in all areas of the corps. The percussion staff is looking to make great strides during the 2004 season. The administration is currently working on securing new percussion equipment, while the staff is preparing the technique and music program. The approach for next year is to be more aggressive, with a stronger visual element, while maintaining musicality throughout. The staff is looking to march their largest line ever in the corps' history: 6 snares, 3 tenors, 5 basses and 6 in the front ensemble (may also double as field cymbals). 2004 is to be the breakout year for the percussion line--why not be a part of it?! Interested parties can find more information about the corps at their website: www.phoenixnj.org. More information about the percussion line will be following during the next few weeks. Tell your friends that play a wind instrument or are in color guard about the corps, as the brass and color guard sections have openings, too! Thanks, everybody...
