flag fabric question and advice needed

Hello,

I am writing a winter guard show and I want to order some fabric.  I
believe the kind of fabric I would like to order is china silk.  Isnt
that the most common type of fabric used in winter guard/drum corps?

Also, I want to spraypaint on the silk, is china silk a good fabric
for painting?

Where is the best place to order china silk?
