[Why the canvas? If you want to build up the surface with pieces of wood, why not start with a wood panel? Then you'd just use wood glue, and everything would be simple. Trying to attach wood to a piece of canvas would be difficult, since the canvas will want to flex while the wood would not. It can probably be done (heck, you can even stick china to canvas if you want), but I don't see the point of it.] Andrew Werby www.unitedartworks.com "MJ" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Hi, everyone -- I would like to attach wood pieces, approximately > 1/4" to 1/2" thick, to a large canvas, then use oils to paint over > them just as if they were part of the original canvas. > > First, what glue or other product would you use for long-term > adherance and moisture control? > > Second, would you apply gesso to the wood before adding the oils? > Kilz, then gesso?
