Some of us are indeed doing targeted exercises to build foot strength faster than would be accomplished by dancing alone, and it seems to make a difference. For some reason most teachers are happy to explain figures over and over, but never seem to try to do anything about the fact that many of their students simply don't have the strength to actually execute them as described.
