If memory serves, the regular Tim Hunter series was in fact going to be
called "Arcana", but DC ran into a trademark conflict of some kind at the
last minute, and hastily changed titles.  The Children's Crusade issue was
already in the pipeline. 

The original intent was that "The Books of Magic" was just the limited
series, which used Tim in the framing sequences for a tour of the
DC-Universe magical characters.
