I think that only works if willpower is linked to gullibility.  Over 
the billion year history of the GL Corps, you'd expect to get a 
decent number of skeptics who'll believe in the yellow weakness only 
after they've tried ignoring it.  If it's based on belief, then a 
strong-willed person who thinks it's a lot of hooey should be able to 
ignore it.

There were also stories in which people ran across a ring and tried 
it out, running headlong into the yellow weakness without having been 
warned about it.  (E.g., "Yellow Fever!", summarized at 
<http://www.glcorps.org/gl-an3.html>)
