No, but I also read the story, or at least part of it. I think I was left wondering if the weakness was in the *head's* of the GL's rather than the ring itself. If a GL thinks it has a particular weakness, it can't bypass it (since it's based on will-power). If you present a ring and claim it has no weaknesses, the GL treats it accordingly.
