If the muscles are moving, why not? The fact the motive power comes from an
external stimulus like a machine rather than her internal nervous system,
what difference does that make to the muscles themselves? They are moving =>
they are being exercised. Not as efficiently as the muscles themselves
would, but still being exercised.

And my sister required physiotherpay after (mercifully temporarily) damaging
her spine, she wasn't doing most of the effort, the physiotherapist was, by
moving her legs for her. She still improved muscle tone.
