[LNH] Bride of C'thulhu #5 -- A Chaotic Add-On Story

Patient Zero, Absurd Lass, Dualist Lad and Skunk Girl
did the only thing they could think of: they went to
LNH HQ and consulted with Occultism Kid and the August
One.

"You say this Cyg.net.a came at you from out of a
toilet?" Occultism Kid asked with disbelief.
"That's what I am saying," Skunk Girl told him.
"It is not unheard of for Cy.net.a to rise up out of
the sewers," the August One said.
"You have heard of Cyg.net.a, August One?" Occultism
Kid asked.
"She is a very old, very ancient evil," August One
said. "Luckily for us, yes, I do know of her."
"Then there is a way to stop her from turning
Net.tropolis into some kind of gothic city!" Dualism
Lad proclaimed.
"I didn't say that," August One said, "but if there is
a means of stopping her then I would be able to find
it, yes."
"Then what are we waiting for?!" Patient Zero asked
impatiently.
"Yes!" Absurd Lass said. "I am afraid we are a bit
out of our league with this one."
"Very well," August One said. "I will consult my
crystal ball and see how deep the damage goes." He
took a crystal ball down from where he kept it on the
shelf, dusted it off and placed it on a table. He
peered into it for a few minutes and then started to
frown. "Oh dear."
"What is it, August One?" Occultism Kid asked. "What
do you see?"
"The changes that Cyg.net.a have inflicted upon
Net.ropolis go far deeper than I could have imagined.
Cyg.net.a has changed Net.ropolis so that it is, was
and always will be a dark, gothic version of itself.
Look and behold how in the twenties Boy Lad and Boy
Lad Jr. used to patrol Net.ropolis at night fighting
the frightened, superstitious criminal element that
had had a lot on Net.ropolis for years! Behold how in
the forties Nick Naime used to have to deal with opium
smugglers, satanic cults and white slavery networks!
See how in the seventies how the Legion of Net.Hippies
used to worship Cyg.net.a as their God! Behold how in
the future how Net.ropolis will turn into a apocolyptic
cyberpunk version of itself with the corporations that
run the world having been taken over by even more
unscrupulous men than we would otherwise have, men who
would stop at nothing to amass their own personal power
and who see worshiping Cyg.net.a as a means to that end."
"Alright, so we're screwed," Dualist Lad said, flatly.
"Not necessarily," August One said. "If we can send
people through time to the twenties, the forties, the
seventies and the future and then have then recite a
spell against Cyg.net.a while I recite the same spell
here then we could elimate Cyg.net.a altogether from
this timestream."
"But how can you meaningfully talk about doing things
at the same time at different points in history?"
Skunk Girl asked.
Occultism Kid turned to the August One and smiled.
"She doesn't understand about the fifth dimension."
"Alright, so forgive my ignorance," Skunk Girl added
indignantly, "but how exactly are we supposed to send
people to different points in time in the first place?"
The August One nodded. "We must consult Kid Kirby
and Doctor Stomper. Only they have both the technology
and the know how to get us to the different points in time
so that we can recite the spell!"
"What spell is it that will work against Cyg.net.a?"
Patient Zero asked.
"A very simple spell actually," August One told them.
"It goes like this 'Cyg.net.a, Bride of C'thulhu, your power
over this world I hereby undo!'"
"That sounds simple enough," Absurd Lass said.
"Except that it must be performed by a being of magical
power," August One explained. "You and Patient Zero qualify
because you are agents of the Divine Intervention Unit.
The only other beings here that might qualify are myself,
Occultism Kid, Dr. Surreal, Kid Mysticism and Kid Kirby."
"That doesn't seem like a problem," Dualism Lad said, "if
as you say we need to send people to four different points
in time then Patient Zero and Absurd Lass can go to different
points in time and then Occultism Kid and Kid Kirby can be
sent to the other time periods."
"I didn't know Kid Kirby did magic," Skunk Girl mused.
"Kid Kirby is an innately magical being," August One explained.
"The Power Kirby originates from the Kirby Zone which is an
inherently magical dimension."
"Fair enough," Patient Zero said. "But I'm just wondering what
happens after we recite the spell. How do we know that it worked
and how will we get back to our time?"
"You will return to the present as soon as the spell is recited,
assuming it works," August One said. "There is a catch though: we
need to recite the spell at the same place in the different time
periods. For my own convenience I ask that you recite the spell
here in this room in this building. I need to be here to monitor
your progress and give youi assistance if necessary. I will tell
you when to recite the spell so that the five spells can work together
to defeat Cyg.net.a. Beware though because with Net.ropolis having
become a dark, scary, gothic place there are bound to be dangers
for you all to face!"
"Well then let's get on with it then!" Patient Zero suggested.
"We're wasting time talking when we don't even know if Kid Kirby
and Doctor Stomper will be able to help us at all!"
"We'd better go ask them then!" Absurd Lass suggested.
"Yes," the August One agreed. "We need to act quickly. For if
not then Cyg.net.a's curse upon Net.ropolis will become pernament
and there will be nothing we can do to change it back!"

TO BE CONTINUED!
