'American Splendor'

I saw the film recently and wanted to buy the 2 anthologies that Harvey
Pekar has put out so far.  I walked into our small town's comic book shop.
Keep in mind I live an hour from Cleveland, Ohio where Pekar lives and
writes about and 'American Splendor' won the Cannes Film festival and
everyone knows about his comics, or I thought so.  I asked the owner of the
comic shop if he had any 'American Splendor' by Pekar.  "What's that?  I
never heard of it."  "It's a graphic novel, alternative comics" I replied.
"What's alternative comics? never heard of those before" he replied as he
gave me a "you're weird" expression.  With that, the slack-jawed yokel
slinked back behind the counter and resumed his normal position over the
Dungeons and Dragons dice and figurines and crammed his head back up his ass
again, where it would be safe from new and interesting ideas and comics.  I
went to another comic bookstore, same thing.  Finally I bought the 2
anthologies at Borders.  I really need to write a comic about not being able
to find 'American Splendor' around here!
