mortals.  Ravana,
who defeated the Gods, had the Pushpak Vimana.
Mortals neither designed nor made vimans, though some aspects of their
design were known
according to certain sources.
Mortals managed on foot, chariots, etc. till the invention of the bicycle
and the
internal combustion engine.

We are talking about the past, with reference to the future.  The present is
just a bad idea.
