Re: Poets Joe Green, Jeet Thayil, Mark Lamoureux to read at Wordsworth in Harvard Square

Francis -- I am bringing John Ashberry's book of essays "Other Traditions"

http://www.semcoop.com/detail/067400664X

to P. It has a great essay on Beddoes. You should get a copy.

Beddoes gave Lonliest something good for this.

I thought I saw Jesus on Route 66.
I said, "I knew you didn't leave us."
He said, "I do this just for kicks

But ain't you got no be-bop?
I can't stand that hip hop.
I want a strange and plain song,
A Ruby, It's Gonna Rain Song.
And the rain falls like stones
On our marrowbones."

I thought I saw Jesus
Out on the macadam
But it was the red outline
Of beginning Adam.
