That was right there in the theatrical print. It's not that simple. Gandalf seems to know that it will take four days before Eomer's men can return. And he seems to know that Saruman is launching a major attack. Before Eomer would get there, Saruman's troops would wipe out the people of Edoras, if they had followed Gandalf's plan, and yet everyone acts like Theoden was wrong. Morgil
