I agree with Stan's post above, but if you must persist, I would buy her a
copy of  The Hobbit.

It is more 'lightweight' in style than LoTR. Furthermore, now her interest
is piqued, she might find all the background info it reveals (stuff about
hobbits, dwarves, Gandalf, Gollum, Elrond etc) would help clarify the whole
context of the films. It also doesn't really enter into the whole 'ring
politics' thing that is developed later, being a simple quest tale that
could be enjoyed in isolation.

I know when I first saw the FoTR movie, I couldn't help thinking  how there
must have been an information overload and a steep learning curve - and that
inevitably all the subtleties of the stories would be swamped by just having
to take it all in.
