The original note was posted as informative information about
the ACTOR (Christopher Lee) being fucked with, not the fans.

Most of the "fans" of ROTK consider it the best film ever made
sight unseen and refuse to question this belief in the face of
studio manipulation leading to a major "villain" of the piece
being cut out of a resolution altogether. This involves the
cutting of a scene which wasn't in the books, but which most
casual film-goers will expect to see. And actor-wise, it's
a totally fucked up scenario from a film and behind-the-scenes
standpoint.

The "fans" of the film don't care because they simply worship
Peter Jackson for some reason, possibly owing to an unhealthy
attachment to the source material and a realization that it'll
never be filmed again. The "Tolkien purists" who didn't want
to see the books filmed in the first place don't care because
(as mentioned) the cut scene, which is Chris Lee's only scene,
was rewritten from the book anyhow.

Never mind that it cuts
down characterization of the entire movie trilogy to omit it
(it'd be akin to omitting the "guy posessed by Smith" scenes
from the 2nd Matrix movie and failing to include them later).
It's also a big "fuck you" to Christopher Lee, for whom this
is probably the culmination of his career.

Neither the fans nor the purists have any hopes or expectations
of ROTK being anything better than a kick-ass action flick.
Unfortunately that is true of most movies, especially on the
Internet and in the US, so why criticise?

Of course folks who couldn't give a shit about the first two films
will not care if ROTK doesn't live up to its potential as a dramatic
film, which the underlying PROPERTY (i.e. story) clearly allows for.
