Up for auction is "Gems Of The Orient: The Oriental Frill Pigeon With Notes
On Breeding, Management, Exhibiting, Feeding, &c" by Frank Machin (past
President of the Oriental Frill Club) circa 1919 (no copyright listed but
preface by Machin is dated Jan. 1st, 1919) & published by The Midland
Counties Herald Limited Birmingham. The book has additional black & white
plates & a couple illustrations by a Mr. J.W. Ludlow of Birmingham. I
believe this is a first edition as I can find no reference to earlier
editions. The preface states that the book is drawn from articles that were
published in "Pigeons" during 1917-1918. The book is 78 pages in length with
an additional 2 page preface & a 4 page appendix. The book is in very good
plus condition with a little exterior edge/corner wear/rounding, my
grandfather's inscription on the inside front cover dated 1947, & a little
foxing to the interior edges.

I did a search at AddAll (which covers literally millions of books) for this
book & the search did not come across a single copy of it. This book was my
grandfather's & he brought it with him to America from Scotland in 1951.
Shipping is $3.95 to $5.40 for USPS Priority (depending on where you live)
or $2.34 for snail mail shipping if a USA shipment. Insurance is extra &
delivery confirmation for the media mail option is $0.13 extra (USA shipment
