Yeah, there is some sense of closure at the end of book 20. The 2 main
characters don't die or retire, but for myself, I was satisfied at the
end of book 20. One of the main characters gets his heart's desire, and
the other a kind of peace of mind that's always eluded him. Hope that
doesn't give away too much!
For myself, I was still under the impression that O'Brian intended to
stop with book 20 (he had said at one point that such was his intent)
when I finished it, and was OK with the way things ended up.
