You can find some good ones that include a limited amount of fantasy.
Try Parke Godwin, Diana Paxson's Ring novels and Grundy's two ring
novels.  Poul Anderson has a few good viking books.  The deepest sea by
barnitz is excellent.  I just finished the Sea Road by Elphinstone and it
was a fine book.

You don't want arthurian but have you tried Cornwell's trilogy?  Amazing,
and far, far better than his other books.
