You can find some good ones that include a limited amount of fantasy. Try Parke Godwin, Diana Paxson's Ring novels and Grundy's two ring novels. Poul Anderson has a few good viking books. The deepest sea by barnitz is excellent. I just finished the Sea Road by Elphinstone and it was a fine book. You don't want arthurian but have you tried Cornwell's trilogy? Amazing, and far, far better than his other books. Phil
