Reading the making of master and command: far side of the world

Just starting reading--pictures are great.  All the film makers are POB
fans--they didn't have to say so of they weren't.  They promise the "sprite"
of the Aubrey-Maturin novels.  What is that?  And do you believe the movie
makers?
