For great stories about families in the past, try:
All of A Kind Family series (my highest recommendation - I think it fits
all your criteria, and she'd enjoy the look at a different culture/time)
Strawberry Girl (and other books by Lois Lenski, like Prarie School)
Betsy-Tacy (I haven't read, but have heard all good things about these
books)

For mysteries:
Trixie Belden mysteries (like Nancy Drew for younger readers)
Encyclopedia Brown (if she likes puzzles)

Other great stories I loved at that age:
Pippi Longstocking
E.B. White stories (Charlotte's Web, Trumpet of the Swan, Stewart Little)
The Mouse and the Motorcycle
A Wrinkle in Time
Chronicles of Narnia
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (and other Roald Dahl)
The Secret Garden
Beverly Cleary books (Ramona, etc. Are these too easy?)
