This is great. I first noticed the Scarecrow's gun in rewatching the film to practice the music, before our cast received their props, and my reaction was much like this guy's, only his is about 100 times longer and funnier: http://home.earthlink.net/~jinxo/ozgun.html Originally, our director was going to arm the Scarecrow with a flit-gun-like insect sprayer (for the Jitterbugs--get it?) I actually brought such a destructive device for consideration (which was, indeed, pretty dangerous in Scarecrow's hands--he immediately sprayed Dorothy with it and I had some doing convincing her there'd been nothing in it for 50 years but the hot soapy water I'd used to clean it) but it was ultimately rejected in favor of a gun--only the gun in our stage version is a huge rifle fixed up to look like a blunderbuss. No danger of anyone missing this one. At least it's never pointed at the Tin Man, at any rate, I don't think so, but what do I know? At that point I'm busy pulling out my entire arsenal of Jitterbug effects. (Hmmm, think there's any market for vintage flit guns on eBay?)
