A quick search of http://addall.com/used for:
    copper kettle
turns up a title by Annette Turngren ; Illustrated by Polly Jackson.
The book was originally published in 1939, and apparently
reprinted in 1961.    A google search shows the book as a
children's book, so maybe this is a good starting point?
