Well, for a very long time, the Oz books not written by L. Frank Baum weren't available, either. It's only in the last ten years or so that they've all come back into print (and even one of those seems to be OOP again), and even then you generally need to order them mail order or online or such. --Eric Gjovaag, who supposes "The Wizard of Oz" was the first SF/fantasy book he ever read, as he can't recall anything earlier
